Matching your journey to a train

Also: add a journey, logging, log a journey

You say where and when; Trainiac finds the real trains that did it, and you pick yours.

Example

  1. You: Reading to London Paddington

    On 4 October

  2. Every train calling at both

    Plus trips with one change

  3. You pick the 08:42

    One train, one day

  4. Tied to that run

Its stops, times and route come with it

An example journey, not a real record.

When you add a journey, you tell Trainiac where you got on, where you got off, and the day. Trainiac then looks for every train that stopped at both stations that day, in the right order.

It also finds trips with one change: a first train to a station both trains call at, then an onward train leaving long enough after you’d arrive. If a direct train would have got you there just as soon, the trip with a change is left out.

Once you pick, your journey is tied to that exact train run: its train UID and the date it ran. That’s how Trainiac knows its real stops, times, route and delay, and who else was aboard.

In Trainiac

The Add tab: choose the stations and the day, then “Which train?”.
