Frozen journeys

Also: snapshot, saved journey, final

Your journey is a copy of the train, kept in your account, so it never fades away.

Trainiac’s detailed picture of each train only reaches back 60 days, and the map data it draws routes with is refreshed from time to time. If your journey just pointed at that data, it would slowly fall apart.

So when you log a journey, Trainiac copies everything it knows into your account: the stops, the planned and real times, the platforms, the route line, the distance and the likely class.

Until a journey is finished, Trainiac keeps updating its copy when you look at it: a late train’s real times, a cancellation, a change on the day. Once the train has a real arrival time, or it’s six hours past when it should have arrived, the journey is final and stays exactly as it is.
