Timing point

Also: passing point, pass, timing location

A place in a train’s schedule where it has a time, whether it stops there or not.

Example

Didcot Parkway — pass 08:56½

A passing time in a schedule. An example.

A schedule isn’t just a list of stops. It also gives times for places a train passes without stopping: junctions, stations it runs through, and other key spots.

Those passing times let signallers and TRUST tell whether a train is keeping time between stops, not just at them.

In Trainiac

Routes are drawn between consecutive timing points, so the line follows the track the train really took.
