CRS code

Also: station code, three letter code, 3 letter code

A station’s three-letter code, like PAD for London Paddington.

Example

Three letters

PAD
London Paddington
RDG
Reading
KGX
London King’s Cross

Every National Rail station has a three-letter code. They’re printed on tickets and used by journey planners, so they’re the codes passengers are most likely to have seen.

Some are easy (RDG is Reading). Some less so (KGX is London King’s Cross).

Only stations have them. Junctions, depots and sidings don’t, so the railway needs other codes too.

In Trainiac

The big codes on every journey card.
