CIF timetable

Also: cif, common interface file, schedule

The timetable as data: every train’s schedule, published by Network Rail every day.

CIF, the Common Interface File, is the format the railway’s timetable is shared in. Each schedule says which days it runs, its train UID and headcode, its operator, and every timing point with its times.

Network Rail publishes the timetable every day, including all the short-term changes, through its open data feeds.

In Trainiac

Trainiac imports it every day and keeps every day’s copy, so it can still answer “what was meant to run that day” long afterwards.
